Rio Churrascaria is a Brazilian Steakhouse in the heart of Kuwait City, offering rodizio style of service.
Churrascaria is a 250 year old Brazilian tradition developed by Gauchos (South American cowboys) who originally lived by hunting wild cattle in the Pampas. This area extended across Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil. Today, inhabitants in the Rio Grande do Sul region of Southern Brazil are affectionately called gauchos. It is this region and its history that has inspired our RIO restaurant.
A gaucho’s main diet was meat barbecued over an open fire and yerba mate, a special South American Indian tea made from Yerba tree leaves. The hard and often lonely life of the gaucho was celebrated in ballads, poetry and literature and came to symbolize honesty and independence.
Today, many of the gaucho traditions have survived, perhaps one of the most famous being the Rodizio style of serving meat by carving it with a large knife (a gaucho always carried one, called a facon) straight onto your plate.
Here at RIO, our Passadors (meat carvers) continue this tradition by serving you at your table with our finest cuts of meat. These are hand-selected by our Brazilian Chef and then grilled to perfection in our modern Brazilian churrasqueira.
Every day, our chefs create a selection of fresh breads, starters, salads and desserts, inspired by authentic Brazilian recipes.
