A girl sat in the kitchen with her mother.
She started telling her about the difficulties she was facing in life.
Her school subjects were tough, and she didn’t have enough time to see her family and friends.
She complained that she could never be able to manage her days.
Her mother listened to her and started to move around the kitchen.
She put a carrot, an egg, and some coffee beans in three small pots of water on the cooker and turned on the fire.
Her daughter was confused and didn’t understand what her mother was doing.
The mother smiled and said, ‘Do you see how these different things have transformed to other things in the boiling water?’ She put the carrot in a bowl and was able to crush it easily with a fork.
‘The carrot was strong, but now it is soft and easy to crush. Will you allow hard times to make you weak?’ Then she removed the egg’s shell and said, ‘The egg was liquid on the inside, but now it is solid. Will you allow hard times to make you tough and bitter?’
Finally, she gave her daughter a cup of delicious coffee and said, ‘The coffee beans have only become better. The hot water, just like hard times, have allowed the coffee to be stronger, and to give out an amazing smell and delicious flavour. Therefore, it is better to be like coffee beans.’
