Mahmoud Ashknani, a Kuwaiti painter, took part in the 30th edition of Ludwig's International Art Symposium in Hungary. In an interview with the press, Ashknani said that such worldwide involvement shows Kuwait's burgeoning visual art scene and that a documentary of his work, entitled Zari, was shown during the symposium, displaying his work over the previous 50 years.
He went on to say that artists have an important role in promoting their motherland and projecting a favorable image, adding that Kuwaiti art has a unique flair. The symposium, which is taking place in the city of Kendlimajor southwest of Budapest, gives a wonderful opportunity to obtain information and skills from seasoned artists, according to Ashknani.
