The story of Kuwait Airways started back in the year 1953 when a group of Kuwaiti businessmen decided to set up an airline.
They got the support of the government and thus were able to officially announce the presence of the Kuwait National Airways Company Limited in March 1954.
As a start, they bought two DC-3 aircrafts which were named Warah and Kazima, Warah is the name of the first oil well discovered in Kuwait and Kazima is the name of an old district.
The first trips started in May 1954 and were to Basrah in Iraq.
After a year, they started having trips to Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Iran.
