Nine Years Today ... Remembering Actor Omar Al Sharif

Today happens to be the ninth anniversary of the death of international star Omar Al Sharif, as he passed away on this day, July 10, 2015, after suffering a heart attack at the age of 83.

Omar Al Sharif was born in Alexandria on April 10, 1932. His father was a timber merchant, and his mother, Claire Saada, was a society woman from a family of aristocratic Lebanese-Syrian origins.

He loved acting since he was young, as he had many experiences in the school theater, and his passion for acting continued until he joined the British Victoria College in Alexandria, and practiced acting on its stage.

After graduation, he traveled to London to study acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

His acquaintance with the international director Youssef Chahine, who was also studying at Victoria College, gave him great opportunities as an actor.

In 1955, Omar Al Sharif married Faten Hamama and they had a son, Tariq.

Omar Al Sharif's fame and popularity did not stop only in Egypt and the Arab world, but became popular internationally.

His death on July 10, 2015 was a shock to his fans, especially after his son announced at the time that he was suffering from Alzheimer’s, leaving behind an artistic legacy that his fans interact with until now.
